Deal said to be near for schools chief's exit
L.A. schools Supt. David L. Brewer is close to a deal to resign after serving two years of a four-year contract as head of the nation's second-largest school system, according to sources inside the Los Angeles Unified School District.
David Brewer, the target last week of an effort on the board to unseat him, will make an announcement about his future at 2 p.m. at the downtown headquarters of the LAUSD.
