Cherryholmes
January 17th, 8:00 p.m.

Cherryholmes, America's "first family of bluegrass," returns to the Lyric stage by popular demand following their acclaimed performance in August 2008. This dynamic family band first gained recognition when they won the 2005 International Bluegrass Music Association Award for Entertainer of the Year. Their self-titled premiere release debuted at No. 3 on Billboard's Top Bluegrass Albums and received a GRAMMY Award nomination in 2006 for Best Bluegrass Album.

The unique Cherryholmes sound is distinguished by hard-driving instrumental virtuosity and explosive vocal harmonies. The band's live shows feature twin fiddles, Irish step dancing, classic country yodeling and old-time claw hammer, in addition to dynamic bluegrass tunes – featuring Cherryholmes originals and carefully chosen classics. This show will include new songs from their recently released third album, "Don't Believe." You won't want to miss the group the Associated Press called ". . . the hottest new act in bluegrass."

CutTime Players
January 20th, 7:00 p.m.

The CutTime Players are eight world-class musicians from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra who make classical music fresh, fun, accessible and relevant. The Players bring classical masterpieces together with stories, insights and humor, along the way helping audiences to appreciate the mechanics and meaning of this music genre.

This dazzling and versatile ensemble also occasionally extends beyond its classical repertoire to perform Dixieland and jazz, blues and gospel, polkas and marches, folk music and Broadway tunes. In short, anything is possible at a CutTime concert! Whether you're a classical music novice or a serious fan, you'll find something wonderful and new in this delightful and imaginative performance.

Cowboy Junkies
February 12th, 7:00? p.m.

They're a little bit country and a little bit alternative rock n' roll. Canadian siblings Margo (vocalist), Michael (songwriter/guitarist) and Peter Timmins (drummer), joined by bassist Alan Anton, started Cowboy Junkies more than two decades ago, playing clubs in Toronto's Queen Street West. Their blues-inspired debut album, "Whites Off Earth Now!!" was released in 1986 and was quickly followed with the renowned "The Trinity Session," recorded in 1987 at Toronto's Church of the Holy Trinity. The band was nominated for Group of the Year at the June Awards in 1990 and 1991.

While the Cowboy Junkies have been recognized for their inspired interpretations of classics like "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," and "Blue Moon," they are best known for their original material – a unique blend of blues, country, folk, rock and jazz that has earned them critical acclaim and record sales topping four million. The Junkies enjoy a dedicated worldwide following and tour extensively throughout North America, Europe, Japan and Australia.

Little River Band
March 17th, 6:00 p.m. & 8:30 p.m.

Little River Band was the first Australian rock group to become a commercial success in the United States, and their popularity continues more than three decades later. Their playlist of hits includes such well-known tunes as "Lady," "Lonesome Loser," "Cool Change," "Help Is on Its Way," "The Night Owls," "Take It Easy on Me" and "Happy Anniversary."

Little River Band has sold over 25 million records and placed nine songs on Billboard's Top 20. Their biggest hit, "Reminiscing," was recognized by BMI as one of the most frequently played songs in the history of American radio, with more than four million plays to its credit. The band was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association's Hall of Fame in 2004.
